I've appreciated the music of Plastic People ever since I discovered them while wandering around orienkorean's YouTube channel and have since purchased Folk Ya! (too late for the package including their EP) and their recent Snap. Unfortunately, their first album wasn't available at the time for purchase through my usual importers and MrKwang couldn't find it when I requested it a while ago, but recently, a new pressing has apparently become available and I was able to get my hands on their first album via MrKwang. And I'm glad I did, because I think this is my favorite of their albums.
Everything that you see in later Plastic People albums is right here, including the genre hopping, the great vocal chemistry of Kim Mingyu and Yoon Joomi and the simple but effective songwriting and orchestration. Songbags is a bit more mellow than their most recent effort, but mirrors well with Folk Ya!, never really rocking hard, but still having some more push like in the electric guitar/keyboard accented rock song "잭에서 발견한 그녀". Kim has a great grasp of his folksy voice and seems to blend in the right rhythms and sounds from his guitars to compliment it. Yoon provides drums on a number of track and while her performance on the kit is steady, she's more notable for her vocals, which range between folksy herself to adorably cute (without becoming pop saccharine).
It's impressive how much diversity that Plastic People can draw from their simple musical arrangements, but that shows strong songwriting as well as performance skills. While the album is short, there's never a dull moment. However, since it is pretty mellow even when the guitars get crunchy, this album is more for lounging or cruising than rocking out. Good stuff--I have to recommend it. 9/10.

I've been listening to this album more and more and I'm really just falling in love with it. It's much better than I gave it credit for. Bumping it up from an 8 to a 9.
